Santōka Alarm
日本語EN

waiting for whom — this evening the bush clover keeps falling

dare o matsu tote yūbe wa hagi no shikiri ni kobore

1938–1939 · Yuda · Fūraikyo hut
Sōmokutō · Cold and Alone (Kokan)

Notes

At dusk the bush-clover flowers keep spilling down. Though he waits for no one, he sits there as if waiting all the same. The stillness of the falling clover becomes one with a waiting heart that has no object.
