Santōka Alarm
日本語EN

the brightness of the moon front and back — katydids

tsuki no akarusa ga ura mo omote mo kirigirisu

1936–1937 · At Gochū-an hermitage
Sōmokutō · A Landscape of Weeds (Zassō fūkei)

Notes

The brightness of the moon reaches the back of the house and the front alike, and from both sides comes the voice of katydids. Ringed round by light and insect-song, the whole dwelling stands within the autumn night.
