Santōka Alarm
日本語EN

the owl in its way and i in mine, unable to sleep

fukurō wa fukurō de watashi wa watashi de nemurenai

1934–1936 · To the mountains, to the waters
Sōmokutō · Walking Mountains, Walking Waters (Sankō suikō)

Notes

The owl cries for reasons of its own, and he cannot sleep for reasons of his own. Two who cannot sleep, they do not intrude on each other, yet are awake through the same night. On a winter night, even that much connection is welcome.
