Santōka Alarm
日本語EN

a day in the mountains — the ants are walking too

yama no ichinichi ari mo aruite iru

1933–1934 · Begging journeys out from the hermitage
Sōmokutō · On the Begging Road (Gyōkotsu tojō)

Notes

A whole day of walking the mountain paths. He glances down, and the ants are walking too. A human's day and an ant's day go on in parallel within the same mountain. The single word "too" is the joy of finding a small companion for the road.
