Santōka Alarm
日本語EN

firefly come, come — i've reached my home village

hōtaru koi koi furusato ni kita

1933–1934 · Begging journeys out from the hermitage
Sōmokutō · On the Begging Road (Gyōkotsu tojō)

Notes

On the night he returns to his home village, he calls to the fireflies, "come, come." The firefly-calling rhyme he sang as a child rises to his lips of its own accord. Home is also a place where the speech of the distant past comes back naturally.
