nukui hi no mada taberu mono wa aru

1932–1934 · At the Gochū hermitage
Sōmokutō · One Man Within (Gochū hitori)

Notes

A warm day in the depths of winter. He looks into the rice bin, and there is still something to eat. That alone is the whole of the day's peace. The warmth of the sunlight and the last of his stores he receives as one and the same blessing.
