Climbing to worship at Horai-ji.

the holy mountain deep in silence dripping — truly real, not false

oyama shinshin shizuku suru shinjitsu fuko

1939–1940 · Matsuyama, Issō-an hermitage
Sōmokutō · The Crow (Karasu)

Notes

Headed "climbing to worship at Horai-ji." The mountain is deep in silence, and from the trees drops fall. Shinjitsu fuko ("truly real, not false") is a phrase from the Heart Sutra. The very stillness of the mountain stands there as unfeigned truth.
