Santōka Alarm
日本語EN

there I set the moon before death

soko ni tsuki o shi no mae ni oku

1938–1939 · Yuda · Fūraikyo hut
Sōmokutō · Cold and Alone (Kokan)

Notes

Before himself, thinking of death, he sets the moon. The word "set" is strange, as though the moon were a votive lamp placed by hand. On the seat where he faces death by night, a single moon is quietly offered up.
