Together with Gyominō

today I've come this far — withered reeds everywhere

kyō wa koko ni kite kareashi ichimen

1937–1938 · Late Gochū-an period
Sōmokutō · Persimmon Leaves (Kaki no ha)

Notes

A waterside poem visited together with Gyominō. Today I have come this far; before us the withered reeds spread out on every side. A withered scene viewed side by side with a friend holds a stillness different from seeing it alone.
