Santōka Alarm
日本語EN

on an aimless journey the sleeve-grass has gathered this much

ate mo nai tabi no tamotogusa konna ni tamari

1937–1938 · Late Gochū-an period
Sōmokutō · Persimmon Leaves (Kaki no ha)

Notes

"Sleeve-grass" is the litter of grass that collects, unnoticed, in the fold of a sleeve. Traveling on with no set destination, this much has gathered. The distance walked remains in the sleeve as scraps of grass, like refuse.
