Santōka Alarm
日本語EN

bush clover spilling onto the path and now and then a visitor comes

hagi ga michi e made tamatama hito no kuru

1936–1937 · At Gochū-an hermitage
Sōmokutō · A Landscape of Weeds (Zassō fūkei)

Notes

Bush clover in full bloom lets its branches droop out over the narrow path. And there, a rare guest happens to come calling. A figure making its way as if pushing through the bush clover. A glad day when the flowers' peak and a visitor coincide.
