Santōka Alarm
日本語EN

a cicada crying too close a cicada

tsukutsukubōshi amari ni chikaku tsukutsukubōshi

1934–1936 · Toward the mountains, toward the water
Sōmokutō · Walking Mountains, Walking Waters (Sankō suikō)

Notes

The cry of the tsukutsukubōshi cicada is far too close. The same voice frames the poem head and tail, as if it were ringing inside his very ears. The whole hut is wrapped in this last voice of summer.
