Santōka Alarm
日本語EN

onto snow snow falling, and i am in the stillness

yuki e yuki furu shizukesa ni oru

1932–1934 · At the Gochū hermitage
Sōmokutō · One Man Within (Gochū hitori)

Notes

Onto the snow already fallen, more snow falls. Every sound is drawn in, and the world becomes stillness itself, and at its center he is simply there, alone. Not so much loneliness as the peace of being wrapped in that stillness. A poem to hear on a snowy morning, thinking of what lies beyond the window.
