Santōka Alarm
日本語EN

all around me nothing but grass and it's all in bloom

mi no mawari wa kusa darake minna saiteru

1936–1937 · At Gochū-an hermitage
Sōmokutō · A Landscape of Weeds (Zassō fūkei)

Notes

Before he knows it, everything around him is grass — and every bit of it is flowering. The untended weeds of the garden have all come into bloom at once. With "it's all in bloom" he rejoices, standing on the side of the grass.
