Santōka Alarm
日本語EN

under the leaning moon, being an owl

katamuita tsuki no fukurō to shite

1933–1934 · Begging journeys out from the hermitage
Sōmokutō · On the Begging Road (Gyōkotsu tojō)

Notes

Late at night the moon has already leaned low, and an owl is calling. In a world of nothing but the tilted moon and the owl's voice, there is also himself, unable to sleep. A distant companionship among those awake at the bottom of the night.
